We will be trying some new locations and times in the next few weeks and tomorrow’s BTG will be at the Tamarack at 8am Thursday, November 13, 2008 for a breakfast meeting. Also, we have launched the new website at http://www.swvtechnology.com we will be blogging and we hope to start up the Cisco user group again soon. We will also be calling ourselves the Southern West Virginia Technology Group but I am sure the "BTG" will still be around;
As discussed in a few of the meetings the Beckley Tech Group is much more than just Beckley Techies. We have regular attendees from all over southern West Virginia and we want to make everyone feel included. We would also like to thank Mark Wray for hosting the previous website and our list serv for the past 3 years. Your contribution has been beneficial to our group and is greatly appreciated. And another thank you to J.T. Scott and Phillips Technologies has agreed to host our new website.
If anyone has any information to share with the group, please bring it with you. Bring a friend and network!

Getting Started In A New Direction
Hello Everyone,
Well we are starting to find that the Beckley Tech Group has outgrown its name. Our reach and influence has spanned across southern West Virginia. We are starting a new website and we are going to be looking at our goals and visions that we started with back in November of 2005.
It does not seem to me that we have been meeting for nearly three years every other week to have breakfast or lunch. The network that I have been able to put together because of this group usually takes years for professionals to establish. My career has absolutely benefitted from my participation in the group.
Here are the lists of goals we included in the first meeting minutes:
Priority Goals:
1.Form a group of Beckley-Raleigh County technology field representatives that can work together to achieve one mission; To keep dollars spent on technology in BRC from going to companies out of BRC.
2.Give tech reps a networking tool to trade and service leads.
3.To work with BRC educators to better prepare the current and future workforce for better performance skills needed for careers in technology.
When I look at the goals I think we have done a lot. However, after three years and the expansion of the group to include individuals from Princeton, Bluefield, Lewisburg, Hinton, Charleston, Wyoming County and many more, the group should be evolving to include those who attend.
We are preparing for a name change and we will be frequently blogging to keep you up to date. Our new name will be Southern West Virginia Technology and we are excited about the potential this new name will give us and we are going to be reviewing and renewing our goals to better serve the entire group.
Thank you for your participation and for making the Technology Group a success.
